Another great group

I met another wonderful group of ladies in my Altered book workshop over the weekend. It never ceases to amaze me how they all learn the same techniques but their work ends up so individual.
The class was in a lovely venue organised by Marg Byrne
and her sister Kathy Thompson. The two of them worked tirelessly during the day keeping everything running smoothly. Kathy created a fabulous lunch for us all. Thanks again ladies.

Oooooooh! Yummy! You have inspired me to finish my altered books; which are not so pretty as your students as I am 'larnin' myself how to do it. I must agree, everyone's interpretation is different. This is something I feel strongly about and should be encouraged by more teachers---I'm talking grammar school here as that is what I teach. Students are so surprised when it is 'okay' to choose to do something a different way or think a different way; whether it be art, writing, or whatever. There is too much of the 'fitting kids inside the box' going on, in my opinion.

Love the photos of everyone diligently at work. You can feel the energy! Lovely work and so interesting to see everyone's unique style. I have that same wonder when I give workshops...same technique, such individual expression.

The class was sooooo great!! You can see the pages I did up close on my Picasa site; they are the first two images here:

I was going to polish and finish the second page, the seaweedy looking one, but not until I find the perfect fish.

Thanks again Ro!

now that's cool. I need to find something similar for photography - looks like an awesome way not only to grow as an artist but also to meet and make friends with folks who have a similar passion. Thanks for the inspiration, I'm going to try to find something here.

I loved doing your class at AJ retreat Ro and can see that these girls did too.

Let me know when you have another one in Melbourne as I would love to bring my sister along to one of your classes...she would love it!

Isn't it amazing how each individual style emerges even though all participants are using the same techniques (and possibly dipping into the same stash of supplies)? Well done on what seems like yet another great workshop!

Thanks to you and your students for sharing the results of the workshop. I love when a group of artists are given a similar theme, or exercise, and then you get to see the different directions each took.
