All over the place

This post has a bit of everything. I bought this fantastic book Friday night, ETC. by Sibella Court. She's Australian and tells of her collecting and creating beautiful interiors from her collections. I love the way she's set the book out, it looks like a hand made journal. Here's just a very small part of the book.

I love the names of the colours for each section and the way they are set out.
It's a gorgeous book.

This gorgeous ring arrived last week with some wonderful goodies including two hand made postcards from Denise, this was my lovely reward for knitting a piece for her National Gallery project. The knitted ring is divine. Thanks Denise.

I love the colours in these Sari silks hanging in my studio, they're so vibrant.

I was sick of trying to untangle my yarns when I kept them in a basket, then I discovered this toy hanger in a shop the other day, I wasn't sure if it would work but it was very cheap so I thought I'd try and wow it works very well indeed. The yarns are held in the three compartments and the ends are pushed through the holes in the mesh. I only have to pull the yarn when I need to cut off a length for whatever I'm doing and they don't all get tangled.

This is a length of gorgeous fabric I bought on my day out with Jo and fellow bloggers Mim and Jason. We had a fabulous lunch then visited Beautiful Silks, I was in heaven, that's where I bought the fabric, along with lots of other treasures. For all you locals it's in Fitzroy, fabulous place.
I loved the fabric so much I decided to scan a section of it into Photoshop so that I can print it out and use it in my journals.
Below is the scanned image.

The fabric looks just like something that you would have printed!! Have you ever done gelatin monoprints on fabric with acrylics with your own stamps????? Perhaps you should thing about it !! I ahve been doing it lately and using the fabric to line osme of my work. It is addictive, fabulous messy fun!!!
I must also thank you for the ownderful idea of the toy holder for yarns!! Absolutetly brilliant!! My daughter has two hanging in her room that she no longer uses. I am off to steal one and put my yarns in it- that way I can free up shelf space for other stuff!!!

Gorgeous book! It DOES look like a journal, but the sari silks made my soul sing! Luscious, luscious color! What a clever solution for your yarn stash!!! I'll have to keep my eyes open for one of these hangers on my next shopping trip! I've got oodles of yarns and fibers - now I've got a brilliant solution to the tangling mess!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo

Fabulous book Ro...I will keep an eye out for that one. The photographs and the way is it structured like a journal is beautiful.
Loooovely fabrics!!! Definately put that on the list next time I'm in Fitzroy...so many great shops (and the Rose St. Market) in that area. Might have to pencil a trip in to take advantage of the paper sale?

Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful goodies.

See you Saturday.

I picked up this book YESTERDAY in New York, while attending a meeting. Great minds think so much alike.

Love the book, YOUR NEW STAMPS......oh Ro, I so wish you could have seen the show I saw in New York yesterday called "Slash" at the Museum of Art and Design. Cut, manipulated and sculpted paper. Some day, you must come and visit.
