Waiting game

I'm playing a waiting game at the moment. My new grandson is due on Friday, the date has been brought forward by a week, so this has thrown me into chaos as I'm teaching a necklace workshop at home on Saturday.
I've been at the birth of my three other grandchildren so I hope I don't have to miss this one. I've told him if he wants to keep on the right side of his Ro Ro he'd better arrive before Friday or after Saturday. I hope he's listening. It's been very hot here so my daughter's ready to have him now.

In the mean time I've been creating a cover for my next journal which I hope to have on etsy soon.

Below is the piece of paper that I decorated with the stamps that I have in my etsy store.

I scanned it into photoshop and then changed the hue, posterized the edges and added some more of my stamps that I've turned into brushes, below is the result.

On Saturday it was beautiful and warm so we went for a visit to Brunswick Street which is in Fitzroy, an inner suburb of Melbourne. The whole street has a very bohemian atmosphere. Lots of fabulous cafes, art shops and interesting characters.
Below are just a few of the wonderful places to visit.

Beautiful Zetta Florence, papers from Italy, cards, boxes etc. a real luxury.

This was a fabulous shop that sold everything relating to coffee and coffee and tea making, the aroma was so enticing when we walked in. We wondered where they served the coffee then discovered this delightful little area, it's a passage way between the two shops. They've turned it into this gorgeous 'cafe', very inspiring what you can do with a small space.

A blocked off door looking into the shop.

A paper and print maker addicts heaven, it's Neil Wallace's shop and has some wonderful papers, paints and all things for printing. Needless to say I bought some beautiful Japanese paper that they had on special.

A wonderful graffiti wall.

Fabulous bougainvillia, what a magnificent display.

I love the sign, there are many interesting ones along this street. Lots of mosaic seats too.

Finally one of my favourite places. The Artist's Garden nursery. It's an oasis in the city, beautifully set out with lovely plants and garden sculptures. It makes you want to rush home and start gardening.
We live about an hour out of the city so by the time we arrived home the urge to garden had subsided some what.

great post. loved looking at the city and its delight. what i wouldn't give to be there.....hope your new granchild arrives on time.....but you know how they do it on their time. when my daughter was ready to deliver her first child, i took a week before and after the due date. no work away from home. no travel. did he arrive then? NO. waited until that time was up and i had to leave for alaska and only had a couple of days to be with them.

Thanks for the lovely tour around your environs! ooooh, what I would give to visit that nursery...after having a cup of java at the other little place. I do so enjoy reading your blog so thought I'd finally leave you a message. I'm across the Big Puddle, in the Pacific Northwest of America, and we are heading into winter at the moment so it was a real treat to see bougainvillea in its full blooming glory - even if it is on the other side of the world!!

What an interesting place Fitzroy is - I love that little alleyway cafe. Your journal cover and paper are gorgeous as usual, if not even better than usual. Best wishes to your daughter for Friday, or whenever, and I hope the little chap times things right for you!

A timely post Ro as I am coming down to Melbourne the first week in December and I am always looking for places to visit.I always go to the Chapel Street Bazaar in Prahran so now I have another point of interest.
We are staying in Collins St in the City --can you tell me any other streets of interest that I could see.

Glad you took us on that trip with you Ro... lovely part of Melbourne.
Lee and I are off into town this weekend to take in two wonderful exhibitions (pop over to Lee's blog for details). Cressida Campbell and Judy Drew. We intent to visit Neil Wallaces too (one can never have too much lovely paper).
Hope that little grandson arrives in time for his Ro Ro to be present at the birth.

Love the new journal cover and thankyou so much for sending those pieces of netting which I received yesterday in the mail.

Thanks for making the world smaller, and beautiful by your tour.

Good luck on the delivery--they have a way of their own, even when "induced" to hurry on out. My sister just finished her bout of breast feeding her little guy, time sure flies.

I hope all went well with the birth of your grandchild and that everything in your schedule fell into place nicely. Perhaps someday I will be able to mention the birth of mine.....probably no time soon....sigh.

So much beauty in your life, Ro.
