Graffiti workshop

For some time now I've admired the work and style of Alisa Burke, she has such an uninhibited, unique way of painting. I decided to enroll in her latest online workshop and boy is it fun. I need to loosen up in my painting and this is certainly one way to go about it.

This is an unfinished canvas that I've had sitting on my easel for about eighteen months. I was stuck and had no idea where it was going to lead.

So I decided to give it a new life, this became my first stage of the technique.

It needed something so I added yellow

and just kept going. I'm not sure if I'll do any more or not, I'll let it sit in my studio for awhile and see if it speaks to me. I'm really enjoying the workshop and new techniques.

I seem to always be making red necklaces, they just keep evolving in this colour combination. This one is for my stall at Creative Soul retreat in March
Back with more soon.

You continue to inspire me! I find it hard to move away from a comfortable color combination but I wonder if I will ever be able to paint over a canvas like that! Such courage, & the conviction that you WILL be able to do it again :)

I'm glad you are enjoying Alisa Burke's workshops Ro, but I love what you already do. Still, it is good to try new things and freshen up your own style.

I love all the bits-n-bobs on your necklace. fun, fun, fun
Thanks for pointing me to the Alisa Burke blog - I'll have to go back and watch those videos later. Her style reminds me of Traci Bautista but different.

It is always good to stretch and explore but honestly Ro, I am not sure that you can improve on the perfection that you have already achieved!!!!!! My humble opinion of course but, don't change too too much!!!!!
Red is such a classic and you do red so well!! This piece will not last for long!! Hugs!

Like everyone else here, I already love what you do with colour :-) It's always good to learn more and experiment though!

This canvas certainly has undergone a transformation Ro! I love seeing the influence of Alisa Burke in this piece, that is one of the things I love about art, it is always evolving.
The red necklace is beautiful...I have a thing for red too.

So the first photo is your painted canvas, and the second photo is the same canvas, painted over ? I liked the first one as well as the second. good for you that you can go ahead and eliminate something you don't like, get it out of your hair.

Nice bold color mix in your painting, and the scattering of lanterns makes it very festive.

Hi Ro!

I did Alisa's first Graffiti workshop last year. Loved it!

Your piece turned out great. It is definitely a freeing experience.\

I also love what you are doing with the needle felting. That's something else I would like to learn.

Hope all is wonderful.

Ro, this is GREAT! This canvas is wonderful. I'm so inspired. I'm afraid of canvases, especially big ones. I just freeze and don't know what to do. This makes me want to leave work and go paint! And that class sounds great. I'm going to go see when she's having another one.
