Progress of a painting

I'm working on some collage, mixed media paintings to take with me to Berry in August, for the exhibition that will be held while I'm teaching there. I always forget to take photos of the progress, but this time I remembered. Here are some of the stages. The painting isn't finished yet as I leave it for a few days to go back and see it with fresh eyes. I'm adding sheep and cows to the paddocks. It's also my interpretation of the view from our back deck.

I start by gluing a range of papers to the canvas, then add washes of acrylic paint

I sketch in some of the features with paint

It's starting to take shape

Some of the details have been added.
There's still a way to go but I'll post a photo when it's finished.

Thanks for dropping by and for your lovely comments.

Still making papers

In August I'm teaching at Art is You in Melbourne and the following week I go to teach a fabric journal at The Art Retreat for Berry Patchwork in NSW. I've been busy decorating papers and doodling on the inside of envelopes to make up some more paper kits to sell at the retreats.

some of the papers cut up ready to go in the kits

a range of 'doodles' on envelopes, I add two to every kit.

This is a short post this time, I'm going to try and post more often so they may end up short and sweet. Thanks for visiting and your lovely comments.

New stamps and fabric cards

I've been busy making more stamps and fabric cards for my Etsy shop. I still have more to add and also some spiral bound journals that I'm working on right now. They should be added by the weekend (famous last words).

These are some of the cards, I still have more to add. They also fit perfectly in an IKEA frame.

I'll be adding more stamps too over the weekend

Gelli Printing

Now my sample journal's completed I've been able to spend some time Gelli printing. I've also added more paper packs to my Etsy shop. I've been printing on fabric, then outlining the images with black pen and adding some doodles. I'm also experimenting with screen printing effects on the Gelli plate, they are quite interesting.

This is fabric printed on the gelli plate, I created my own stamps with the foam that you heat. I drew around the shapes with black pen and added some doodles.

I quite like the reverse side of the fabric too

This is my screen printing experiment on the gelli plate

These are typical of the papers in the packs.

I created this piece using lots and lots of layers of stencils and stamps. I've now turned it into covers for some spiral bound paper journals I'll be adding to Etsy this week.
