More Nina knots and Found objects

I've been busy catching up on some jewellery orders for Antipodes gallery in Sorrento. These are a couple that I sent off today.
I sometimes make the complete necklace using the knots Nina
taught in the workshop when she was here in February.
On the ones that have lots of 'drops' I tend to use 'tiger tail' as this makes the necklace lighter.
Earlier this year I went to the local Art Truck garbage recyle centre and amongst my 'treaure' were these cardboard rings, cut from heavy duty cardboard rolls. I've been painting and sealing them for added strength and incorporating them into my necklaces. They are very strong when they've been sealed with a heavy duty varnish.
We keep rushing outside as it's a total eclipse of the moon happening right now, but unfortunately it's cloudy and we only catch glimpses of it. Oh well better go and check again.

Hi Ro - love how you've altered those rings into something fab and interesting - also love your wire wrapped stone - lovely work, all of it! Am also checking out the moon tonight - bright and clear here, so the kids are getting a good lesson on the movement of the heavenly bodies! LOL

I have to ask...did you see a movie called Hotel Sorrento (the US movie title but I've seen it listed under Sorrento Beach as well)? That landscape was so beautiful. When I saw the mention of Sorrento I had to ask.
Wonderful necklaces!

Beautiful necklaces, Ro. I especially love the 2nd one...I think it's the colors that you used with the embellishments...very rich and elegant. And I love what you've done with the cardboard cyclinders. No one would ever guess what they really were.

Beautiful necklaces; I also love the wrapped rock and incorporating the cardboard rings to lighten the piece. They look wonderful, and no one would ever know they started as cardboard!
Nice blog!

What a find, those little round pieces...so many fun things to do with them!

How fortunate to catch the eclipse...in our part of the world it was happening at 3:00 am and completely cloud covered.

I have boxes and boxes of small cardboard rolls from weaving yarn and some large ones from sheet metal. The large ones take a jig-saw to cut through but they make great drums:

We're keeping them out of landfills, one art project at a time.....

just beautiful Ro - love the combinations and the colours. Is there a piece on the second one that is soldered china? I love that.
We had a clear view of the eclipse in Sydney - isn't the universe amazing?

Wow - you have been busy - lots of lovely stuff as always on your blog. The necklaces are fabulous and those couple of book pages really appeal to me - so many layers, so much beautiful colour! And I have to agree with you - napkins are such a great way of adding depth and layers.
