Copper book necklace

I've completed this necklace over Easter, it features a small copper book with mica pages as taught by Nina. The cover is galvanized metal that builders use to join plaster and I've given it an 'aged' finish a la deMeng. I'm giving everything an 'aged' look at the moment with liquid nails and paint and loving it, watch out hubby.

Doesn't hubby already have that look and feel without having to alter him?!! Just kidding! It's great to see you using the skills you learnt at the retreat and combining them. I too wish I was as productive as you. Ux

Ah! This is stunning! It must be so amazing in "person." I love the tree in the mica... it looks like the shadow on an ancient memory. Your jewelry really inspires me and makes me want to stay home from work and make something beautiful:> I am so looking forward to taking the workshop with Michael. I'm hoping that at some point I'll be able to manage taking a class with Nina as well. Are you keeping this necklace or selling it?

Ro, so wonderful to seeing you use the techniques learnt at the retreat. Love the Nina knots. When I did Nina's class in Italy the thing that blew me away most was using the metal blocks and flattening the wire and eyelets, gives a totally new look doesnt it.
We will have some more of the blocks for sale very soon.
Am working on the 5 day retreats that Nina and Michael are doing next year. Am hoping to get Nina to teach a fantastic book that she has made called the book of Trees, if you are interested email me and I will send you a photo to see what you think. Lots of wiring techniques.

Ro, I have been visiting your blog for awhile now. I have a special fondness for jewelery made from found items - I do the same thing in my art and love how it all turns out. I took Nina's class a few years ago and still wear the mica book I made there. Thanks for being such an inspiration!

Thanks Olwyn for your kind comments. Anything I can drill a hole into or wire is fair game for my jewellery.
