Words on Etsy

I'm often asked how I create the stitched words that I add to my journal pages. They're free motion machine stitched, which isn't that easy unless you have the right foot for your machine and can hold the fabric steady while feeding it into the machine. I decided to make up packs of five random words and have added them to my Etsy store.

The words are stitched to double thickness off white calico, I think you call it muslin in the US.

Each pack contains five randomly selected words unless specifically requested.

This is how I use them in my journals. They can form the theme for a page or be added after the page is completed.

They can also be added to art quilts, clothing, used in fabric jewellery making or collages.
It's up to your imagination.

What a great idea, Ro! I haven't tried free motion stitching yet, but want to give it a try when I have a bit more time after the holidays. Stitching without rules is a "good" thing! ♥ Hugs, Terri xoxo

What a great idea Ro - even if it is encouraging cheating!!
I find it hard to keep my letters evenly sized and small enough for the space I want them for. Yours are so even - you are obviously in charge of your machine, and hands!

I BELIEVE that I ENJOY, ADORE and LOVE what you CREATE.

I love free stitching....especially when I attempt to do it on surfaces that I don't think will work. My machine has not gotten angry with me yet :-)

Your blog looks so colorful and welcoming. All of the colors and shapes work so well with you work. I have been playing around with new things and am not getting it right yet, but it's been fun. We will see where it takes me.
