Copper booklace Necklace

I've finally finished my necklace that I started in Nina's class, after trying to find the wire at Australia's biggest chain of hardware stores, I finally gave up and used the wire that I bought at a chain of art stores, I'm sure it's the same thing just with a different name.
The book covers are made from copper, the pages are mini collages, sandwiched between sheets of mica, the fabric was my own hand decorated and stamped with a stamp I carved from erasers. The cream beads are very old ivory that belonged to my husband's grandmother, and the key was one of a collection I've gathered over the years.
Plans are already underway for the art retreat in 2008, this time it will be in Melbourne, they are still deciding on tutors, but I for one hope Nina returns. If anyone is interested in making enquiries re the retreat they can contact Jo or Jacky for more details or to let them know who you would like to come here and teach.

LOOKS SOOOOOO SENSATIONAL RO BUT I ALREADY MENTIONED THAT AT DRINKS ON SUNDAY NIGHT! SO WHAT DO THEY CALL THE WIRE IN THE ART STORES - I JUST DON'T WANT ANYTHING THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RUST!
I AM ON THE SAME PAGE WITH YOU RE: NINA - PUT MY VOTE IN ON THE YAHOO GROUP - I COULD DO CLASSES WITH HER OVER AND OVER - I WILL HAVE TO DO THE ONE YOU DID DEFINATELY - SHE IS SUCH AN AWESOME ARTIST.

This is really very wonderful! I has such an elemental and powerful look...the mica pages and copper covers along with the fabric and images are just so cool! There is something that's both rpimitive and elegant about this pice, and the key makes it feel very symbolic. Gorgeous!

(BTW - I signed up to take a workshop with Michael in June - was able to work it out. I'm way excited:>)

Hi Ro

Not sure if you remember me? I met you at a shop called Hannmade a few times early last year. I remember your amazing jewellry and altered books. I don't shop there anymore but often think of you and your art.

This necklace is amazing!!

I am definitely going to be going to the art retreat next year if it is in Melbourne.

Will add your blog to my favorite links and visit often.

You are an incredibly talented artist.

Your booklace has come up beautifully Ro. I am trying to get to a bead and gem show here in Perth this weekend and I will look for that chain so I can pass on contact details for anyone interested!
2008 Art Retreat is definately in Melbourne, found a venue that looks great but it is a fair drive out of Melbourne, closer to Albury airport I think?
If we don't have Nina there, we are having here teach at a week long smaller retreat in Perth next year. A week with Nina, how awesome would that be??
As a final note, thankyou sooooooo much for the gorgeous gifts you sent us. Your work is awesome. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for your kind words and support.
Jo xo
