Stocking my Etsy

I've been so busy of late that I've had quite a few things that I've made and haven't had time to put them into my Etsy shop HERE until now. I'm still adding things over the next few days. Here's just a start. I've bought myself a wire spiral binder, something I've wanted for a long time, so that I could make my own sketch books and journals. I decided I'd also make some to go in my shop. The covers are a piece of my artwork adhered to mount board. The pages are 300gsm water colour paper with a double sided sheet of my hand decorated paper in between each one. There are 50 pages in total including both sides. They are great for sketching, journalling or as a diary as you can work on all of the pages. These have become my daily journals now.

Another journal

I'm working on another commissioned journal, this one's almost finished. Life keeps getting in the way of completing it. Hopefully it will be this week. Here are some photos.

The blue flower is made from a disposable plastic plate that had been used as a paint palette.

My grand daughter has been on school holidays the past two weeks and came for an art play day

last week. Paper mache was on the agenda. She made this gorgeous doll from a cardboard wool cone and a polystyrene ball. It even has a necklace that she made.

Teaching

What a wonderful time I had last week, teaching at the Victorian Calligraphy Society's, Summer school in Winter. I taught the students how to make an altered book that they could then work in using their calligraphy techniques. You've never seen so much beautiful writing and flourishes all in one place. I've never attempted calligraphy, but I can certainly appreciate all of the work that goes into producing it. The tutors were encouraged to check out what was happening in each others classes. I felt almost compelled to lock our class room door when I saw how neat and tidy the other rooms were, not a pen out of place. Can't quite say the same for our room. Hand made stamps and printed papers adorned the tables, walls and floor. Paints, papers and general chaos everywhere, but we all had a good time.

What a marvellous group of students coming from all around Australia and Gillian even travelled from New Zealand.

This was my sample book, the beautiful pieces of art in the squares were given to me by Marg, the photo doesn't do them justice.

Bags

I still have three more journal commissions and one for a very special event at the end of the year, I won't be able to show photos of that one. I'm also part of a fashion exhibition at Lillico Glass Gallery in October, so as well as jewellery, I decided to make a few small bags, following is one of them. They make a change from making journals, although I'm still working on them in between.

June already

Where does the time go? I can't believe it's June already. I'm busy working on journal commissions right now, as well as trying to set up my own on-line workshop that I hope to have ready in July. The workshop will be about making a Junk Journal, I hope some of you will be able to join me. I'll have details soon.
