Altered pages
Since teaching my last altered book workshop, the ladies in the group wondered if we could have an altered book get together once a month, so we decided that we would meet on the third Thursday of the month in the evening and just create. I would be there to answer any questions and offer advice on any new products or techniques, etc. We had our first meeting last week which was a great success, it's wonderful to see such enthusiastic participants and to see all the different books and watch the ideas bounce around. It still amazes me how you can get so many interpretations of a single idea, we certainly are all individuals and art seems to be a very definite way of revealing it.
The photos are three of the pages I've just completed. In the second photo I tore pages from the yellow pages phone book to create the background, then painted, stamped, transfered and sketched over it. The last photo has a tulip serviette as the main feature again with stamping and sketching. I love creating many layers, knowing when to stop is always a problem.
I still return to pages I created months ago and add things if it 'feels' right.

Fabulous pages Ro - how fab to have a monthly meet with other altered book artists!
Ohhh these are fab and so colourful ;-9
i love the layers of images and colour in your work.
i create and create over as well. and I find that so many pages are really only completed several months from when they were originally done. and therefore, my art journal has also become completely non-linear.
I love these bursts of colors! Very stimulating artwork!
Love all of these spread. How wonderful it sounds to have a book circle like that. I have lots of creative friends, but no collage/journaling ones I think. I have to teatch them I guess! ;-)
beautiful !
